Double Celebration – July 1, 2007
Once again L. C. Ministries presented an
outstanding program. The program was the celebration of The Anointed
Angels 30 years of singing the good news; and, Evangelist Coleman’s 15 years
on the radio and birthday celebration. The setting was Bethlehem Baptist
Church Family Life Center, 1037 Eastman Street, Columbia, SC. The
program began around 5:30 PM.
Nate and The Chose Ones conducted a spirited devotion. Thereafter, Rev.
Isaac Hayward, who was the Emcee for the evening called Divine Truth of North
Port, Alabama to the stage. This was Divine’s first time in the Carolinas.
They were received very well by the concert attendees.
The next group to minister was The Anointed Angels. Not only was this
their anniversary program, it was the first time the group had performed
together in sometime. Therefore, it also was a reunion service for the
members. The Angels were just outstanding. They moved from one
song to another with the ease of professionals who enjoy ministering to others
in song.
The next group to minister was The Rising Stars of Eastover. These
gentlemen truly enjoy praising the Lord in song. They certainly were at
the best on yesterday.
The incomparable Lighthouse Singers of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, then went
through the Family Life Center like ‘fire.’ This is one underrated
group. Professionalism is at their core. They can not only sing, they
now how to minister to others. They took the audience on a trip down
“Legend” lane. In other words they show us what The Swanee Quintet, The
Mighty Clouds of Joy and The Violinaires would sound like if they were in the
place. When they hit “Three Pictures on The Wall” no one was sitting.
The audience, in unison, jump to their feet. This is one group that deserves
to be on your next program. Any promoter that has not booked this group
is really shortchanging their audience. We highly recommend The
Lighthouse Singers to you. You will not be disappointed.
The Bells of Joy of Baltimore, Maryland followed The Lighthouse Singers.
They took their time and ministered to the congregation. Like the Lighthouse
Singers, they can really sing.
The Jackson Southernaires closed the program. They took the stage with
Maurice on the microphone instead of the drums. They took us back to the
era of “Don’t Look Down On A Man.” They were smooth in their delivery of
all of the songs. There was not screaming, yelling or shouting.
They took their time and sang. Yes, they sang “In The House.” But, even
on this song, there was not that rough edge fans of The Jackson Southernaires
would have expected. During midway through their performance Huey asked
the crowd for a birthday love gift for the promoter – Evangelist Loretta
Coleman. Huey also siege the moment to encourage Ms. Coleman. He
told those present that it is promoters like Ms. Coleman that help keep gospel
music alive. He indicated that because of Ms. Coleman’s dedication to
promoting gospel music, The Jackson Southernaires are considering brining
their 2008 anniversary to Columbia.
Overall, this was a good program. All of the groups had plenty of time
to sing. And, although the crowd was “slim,” the Spirit was high.
Each of the groups that came from out town indicated that they were please to
be on the program and publicly asked Ms. Coleman to bring them back to
Columbia. We congratulate Ms. Coleman on presenting another outstanding
program.
We only have one question – when will you bring The Lighthouse Singers back to
Columbia?
