May 6, 2005
According to Mr. Jamal Bates, “WPMG Gospel 107 will take the air one last time on Friday, May 6, 2005.” WPMG is an all gospel internet station broadcasting from Columbia, South Carolina. With the closure of WPMG, another media outlet for gospel music in the Columbia no longer exists. Mr. Bates does intend to return to the airways with a syndicated version of The Jamal Bates Show, which will air on many different internet radio stations. As soon as we receive information on where the program can be heard, we will share that information with you.
It appears the plight of the gospel music radio broadcast, particularly those that broadcast a significant amount of gospel quartet music, is in a crisis. Unfortunately with the close of each gospel music media avenue, the public is (and will be) deprived of some of the most inspiring music in the world – gospel quartet.

MOTHER’S DAY PROGRAM
What a Mother’s Day treat. On Sunday, May 8, 2005, Lower Richland High School was the venue for a great Mother’s Day gospel quartet concert featuring The Williams Brothers. Loretta Coleman, CEO of L. C. Ministries served as the Emcee for the evening. Also, she gave the oldest two (2) mothers in the audience cash gifts.
The program began with Alecia Garrick conducting an uplifting devotional service. Alecia has a new project that is sure to make waves in the gospel music industry.
The first group to perform was Antioch. Antioch is an excellent group. They were chose as one of the groups to appear on the SC Gospel Quartet Volume I live recording. They were followed by Big Mack and The Harmonettes. The next group to minister was Ernest Pearson and The Singing Disciples of Manning, South Carolina. Ernest Pearson was followed by a special performance by Regina Skeeter.
Lemmie Battles then ministered as only she can. She really had the 250+ persons in attendance rejoicing. Elder Jimmy Hicks and The Voice of Integrity took the stage and had just about everyone on their feet during the entire time they ministered.
Reverend F. C. Barnes and Company then slowed things down with an outstanding praise and worship service. For thirty minutes they ministered like the Rev. F. C. Barnes and Rev. Janice Brown of days no to long ago.
And then the Brothers took the stage. The Brothers sang about 12 songs, including “Living Testimony” and I’m Still Here.” Henry Green was back with the Brothers. It was good to know that he has recovered to the point that he is once again on the road with The Brothers. In addition, the Brothers had Andre a former member of The Wonderful Harmonizers singing background.
It was a great program. Although the crowd was “slim,” it did not dampen the worship service. Team G and L Media of New Jersey, brought a great Mother’s Day program to Columbia, and it was certainly appreciated by those in attendance.

EVANGELIST LORETTA COLEMAN
In Ephesians 4 we find –
“4There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. 7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. 8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. 9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ;”
On yesterday at Brookland Baptist Church, 1066 Sunset Boulevard, West Columbia, South Carolina, Loretta Coleman (affectionately know as the Gospel Queen) was licensed as an EVANGELIST. In a well attended and inspirational service, Ms. Coleman was formally granted from the church the right to be called an Evangelist. We say “formally” because for many years she has been an evangelist and servant of our Lord and Savoir. Therefore, the ceremony on yesterday was just confirmation of what she already was – a dedicated servant of our Lord and Savior.

LIVELY STONE TEMPLE
On Saturday (May 21, 2005) afternoon, Damon Little, who was in Augusta, Georgia, called SC Gospel Quartet and inquired about attending a Sunday morning church service in Columbia, South Carolina, on May 22, 2005. Not only did he want to attend the services, but he also wanted to sing at the morning service.
There are still many churches that do not wholeheartedly welcome quartet singers performing at any of their services. However, Columbia is blessed with several churches that will open their doors to any gospel quartet singer that is trying to do right and doing the work required by the Lord.
Therefore, a telephone call was made to one of the ministers of Lively Stone Temple, and without hesitation Damon Little and Nu Beginning were welcome to attend the morning service and to sing at the service. We thank District Elder James Mack for the hospitality shown to Damon and Nu Beginning. We certainly appreciate the fact that even with short notice Damon and Nu Beginning were allowed to sing at the service.
Lively Stone Temple is located at 7628 Two Notch Road, Columbia, South Carolina. Should you be looking for a church home, we encourage you to consider Lively Stone Temple. By the way, Lively Stone Temple is the church where the world famous The Dixie Hummingbirds ministered in song the last time they were in South Carolina.
