SC Gospel Quartets holds fund raiser for Katrina victims

The first Tuesday night of each month is when local gospel quartet groups record for the television show SC Gospel Quartet Live.  The program is aired on the UPN network in Columbia each Friday morning at 5:00 PM.  Blanche Goodson, the owner and host of Quartet Live, decided to turn this past Tuesday’s night recording into a fundraiser for Katrina victims.  The funds collected were turned over to Alex Snipe who as CEO of Glory Communications was orchestrating a gospel music fundraiser for the relief effort.

Doc McKenzie and The Hi-Lites performed at benefit program

On Thursday, September 8, 2005, Doc McKenzie and The Hi-Lites performed at a benefit program for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  The program was held at Brookland Baptist Church, West Columbia.  The program was the brainchild of Alex Snipe, CEO of Glory Communications, Inc.   Glory Communications own several gospel oriented radio station that service the midlands and the low country. 

The funds collected from this program will be combined with those collected during a day-long radio telethon that was held by Glory Communications on Wednesday, September 7, 2005.  We have been advised that all funds collected will be directly channeled to those in need.
