Bill Pinkney Celebrates 81st Birthday

On Tuesday, August 15, 2006, over 3000 individuals showed up at the residence of Bill Pinkney to share in the celebration of his 81st birthday.  It was truly a celebration.

Mr. Pinkney is the only surviving original member of the group The Drifters.  As such, the celebration was a musical journey down memory lane.  Bill Pinkney's Original Drifters sang many of the songs that made the Drifters a household name.

In addition, the Gospel Drifters sent up praises to our Lord and Savior with a medley of songs from the What A Wonderful Change CD.

There were many celebrities in attendance, including the group The Educators, Flossie Johnson of Flossie and The Singing Sisters, the Chief of Police, City Council Members, Blanche Goodson, and Joe Pinner who served as emcee.

Along with celebrating his birthday, Mr. Pinkney gave school supplies to students that attended the party.  A grand time was had by all.
